Numbers 5 and Numbers 6

Numbers 5
Commands for how to make restitution.

"Law of Jealousy"
"Water of bitterness" and the "curse of Jealousy"

If a husband became jealous and he didn't know whether his wife had been unfaithful, she had to take an oath and drink the water of bitterness to see if she had been faithful.

Numbers 6
"Vow of a Nazanite"

  • no drink
  • no sexual activity
  • no cut hair
  • no fruit
  • not go near a dead person - not even for family

v 9 - provision for if a man should die suddenly

Note and thought:  very detailed instructions given throughout the Old Testament and even instructions for "what ifs." Note the difference in this and the life of the New Testament - Freedom in Grace.

Aaron and the priests were to invoke the name of God and bless Israel with the following blessing:

v 24-26 - The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine on you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance on you,
And give you peace.
