Exodus 29

v 1 - "what you shall do to them to consecrate them to minister as priests to Me."

Details given of how to prepare Aaron and his sons for ministry

v 9 - "So you shall ordain Aaron and his sons" -this is the first mention of ordination

Blood of one of the rams was to be put onto Aaron's right ear, thumb and toe
Blood and anointing oil were to be sprinkled on to Aaron and his sons and on their garments.

More details are listed. This whole ordination process is really quite gory. Was this something that was done only once or was it repeated?

v 29 - Aaron's garments were to be given to his sons so that they could be anointed and ordained in the same way.

The ordination was to last 7 days (v 35)

There was a distinction made between laymen and the ordained (v 33)

v 42 - tent of meeting - "where I (God) will meet with you, to speak to you there

vv 42-45 - "And I will meet there with the sons of Israel and it shall be consecrated by My glory.
And I will consecrate the tent of meeting and the altar; I will also consecrate Aaron and his sons to minister as priests to Me.
And I will dwell among the sons of Israel and will be their God.
And they shall know that I am the Lord their God who brought them out of the land of Egypt that I might dwell among them, I am the Lord their God."

Dwell - it was meant to last.
