Genesis 41 to Genesis 42

Genesis 41
TWO YEARS LATER
Joseph still in prison because of Potiphar’s wife
Pharaoh has a dream – cupbearer tells Pharaoh of Joseph – who is removed from the dungeon to interpret Pharaoh’s dream.

Pharaoh’s dream:
God’s prophecy of 7 years of abundance followed by 7 years of famine

Joseph gives plan for how to survive the famine. (NOTE: it is always a good idea to have a solution when bearing bad news.)

Pharaoh appoints Joseph his right hand man – literally from rags to riches.

Pharaoh renames Joseph Zaphenath-paneah
Joseph marries Asenath
He was 30 years old
Joseph had 2 sons: Manasseh and Ephraim
7 years of feast and 7 years of famine prophecy fulfilled

Genesis 42
Joseph’s brothers come for food – he sends them back for Benjamin.

Jacob doesn’t want to send Benjamin
Remember: Rachel was Jacob’s true love, the one that he worked so hard for. Once he finally got her, she was barren for a long time. She finally Joseph!.....Joseph was sold to slavery. Also later, Benjamin was the one Joseph requested to meet. (Benjamin, Rachel’s only other son, whom she died giving birth to.)

“Simeon has apparently died somewhere too because v 36 “Simeon is no more.”
