Numbers 8 to Numbers 10

Numbers 8
The lampstand was lit by Aaron.

The Levites were cleansed for service.

They were to work from age 25 to 50.

Numbers 9
v1 - 2nd year 1st month after came out of Egypt. (NOTE: this is after what? Chapter 1?)

God spoke to Moses - In the wilderness of Sinai

v2 - Let the sons of Israel observe the Passover at its appointed time. - 14th day of this month.

So they observed Passover in the wilderness.

Note: No matter where your location or your circumstances - still obey

v6 - Some men were unclean because of "the dead person"
They came to Moses and said - why can't we observe Passover?

Moses talked to God to get a plan.
God said those who were unable to participate in the Passover in the 1st month could do it in the 2nd month. However-if you just chose not to do it - then you were to be cut off from the people.

God even made provision for strangers in the land who also wanted to participate.

Note: God did not exclude the Gentiles even here.

v15 - as soon as the tabernacle was erected, fire was over it at night and cloud was over it by day - continuously when the cloud moved they knew it was time to pack and move the tabernacle.

v 22 - whether it was a day a month or a year.....if the cloud stayed they camped, if it moved, they moved.

NOTE - wouldn't it be nice to have tht visible sign today!

Numbers 10
vv1-5 Make two trumpets of silver-

  • blow both - everyone is summoned to the ten
  • blow one - only the leaders were to come.

v6 blow an alarm to move the camps and (v9) when you go to war.

v10 - blow the trumpets over the burnt offering to be a reminder "I am the Lord your God"

v11-13 Second year second month 20th day (same as chapter 1) cloud moved out for the 1st time.
moved from Sinai --> Paran

v14 The details of the order of the march

v35 When the ark set out Moses said:
"Rise up O Lord! And let Thine enemies be scattered, And let those that hate Thee flee before Thee"
When the ark was put back down:
