Leviticus 11

Instructions on what animals the Israelites could eat:

Divided hooves and chew cud, but not one or the other
Fins and scales
NO Eagle, vulture, buzzard, kite, falcon, raven, ostrich, owl, seagull, hawk, pelican, carrion vulture, stork, heron, hoopoe (I wonder what this is?), bat
NO Bugs that walk on all 4's, except as noted below:
YES to bugs that:
winged and walk on all 4's AND jointed legs above their feet with which to jump.
Locust, cricket, grass hopper
All other winged on 4's are detestable.

God continues to tell them what they can and cannot eat.

He has a purpose for telling them what is "detestable."

v 44 "for I am the Lord your God. Consecrate yourselves therefore and be holy, for I am holy.....you shall be holy for I am holy.

NOTE:  It would seem that it is impossible to be politically correct and to be consecrated or set apart for God. The very definition of consecration (set apart) puts God's people at odds with the rest of the world.

Note also though that the purpose is not for ourselves in any way, shape or form - but rather it is for the sole purpose of honoring God and drawing attention and glory to Him.
